How to Properly Connect a PWM Speed Control

PWM speed control technology is frequently used to more precisely regulate the cooling fan's speed and minimize noise. In addition to efficiently lowering temperature, properly connecting the cooling fan's PWM speed regulation feature may also give the device a quieter working environment. What happens if the PWM speed regulation is linked properly? The actions that must be taken are as follows:

1. Select the type of fan: First, make sure your cooling fan has PWM speed regulating capability. Even though the majority of fans now support it, it is still essential to review the fan's specs or user manual to make sure everything is secure.
2. The cooling fan typically has two power interfaces: one for the connection and one for the control.

one for power supply and one for PWM control. Confirm the power requirements of your fans and connect them according to the requirements.

3. Motherboard or controller: If you are using a modern motherboard, it usually comes with a fan slot that supports PWM speed regulation. You can connect the fan to the corresponding fan slot. Usually, these slots are labeled with the words "CPU-FAN" or "FAN", but the specific markings may vary depending on the motherboard. If there are no suitable slots, you can consider using a PWM fan controller to control the fan speed.

4. Settings: Open BIOS or motherboard settings and confirm that you have enabled PWM fan control. Usually, this setting can be found in the "Hardware Monitoring" section of the BIOS. Once enabled, you can use relevant software in the operating system to adjust the fan speed.

If the PWM fan is incorrectly connected or configured, it may cause the fan to malfunction or overheat. So it is important to correctly connect PWM speed regulation.
