Installation process
Generally, the chassis fan is installed in the front of the chassis, sucking cold air from the front and blowing it over the motherboard, and finally exhausted by the power supply fan to form convection. It is best to consider the direction of air flow. The best solution is to install a fan at the front and rear, distributed in a diagonal direction, and then the cooling effect of the entire chassis will be good. The front fan of the chassis blows to the inside, and the rear fan blows to the outside. The other chips on the convection CPU, graphics card, hard disk, and optical drive are heating the air in the chassis all the time. If the hot air is not discharged out of the box, it will seriously affect the heat dissipation of each component and affect the service life of the computer. The actual measurement shows that the temperature inside the case with the case fan installed is 5-10°C lower than that without the case fan, which can significantly improve the working environment of the accessories and electrical components in the case.
Generally, there are always two places where fans can be installed in the chassis. The front one is generally at the hard disk tray, and the rear one is generally under the power supply and above the keyboard opening. Cases with higher prices have already installed 1 or 2 fans before leaving the factory. When installing a case fan, the principles of air flow should be followed. If the installed fan is forward and rear-exiting, the internal air flow of the chassis will be regular from front to rear; if the fan is installed upside-down, with rear-in and front-out or rear-in and forward-in, the power supply fan is also out of air, which will cause confusion in the air flow.
When only one chassis fan is installed, it depends on whether it is cooling the hard disk or cooling the whole machine, depending on your cooling needs. Many chassis fans are installed in the rear fan position by default, and they are exhausted, which is indeed reasonable.
